Referrals

As part of our commitment to best practice health care for your pets, we may at times recommend a referral to a veterinary specialist if your pet’s illness or injury relates to a complex individual system problem, requires orthopaedic or other specialist surgery or requires close monitoring or intensive care.

We maintain close and longstanding referral relationships with all of the major veterinary referral centres in Sydney and can advise you of the accessibility and availability of specific disciplines such as ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology, oncology, behaviour and orthopaedics, as well as species specific specialists who deal with pocket pets, exotics, birds and wildlife.

As in human health care, your GP should assist you in the overall management, maintenance and well being of your pet’s health, advising you of specialist options when necessary and assisting you in making informed choices concerning health intervention and management.

Referral to most veterinary specialist services requires an initial examination and formal referral by your regular GP vet.
